It’s Flea Market Swap day! Several fabulous DIY bloggers teamed up to swap flea market finds and challenge each other to reinvent forgotten objects. We hit flea markets and thrift stores to pick out items under $10-$15 bucks to ship to another blogger to work their magic.
I got my goods from Danielle at 2 Little Superheroes. She sent two woven, flat baskets and a little knobby vase. I’m a lazy blogger and didn’t get before pics of the baskets, but here’s the vase.
It was so super cute, but I am at my tchotchke limit around here. Spell check wants to change “tchotchke” to “hotcake”. Just to be clear, I do not have a hotcake limit. The vase was flat white so I sprayed it with Rustoleum’s High Gloss White. I was working on the Dwell with Dignity apartment project at the time and GordonDunning mentioned that they didn’t think they had enough tchotchkes so I brought the vase and one of the baskets along with me to the apartment on one of the install days.
The vase now lives on this bookshelf that Liz and I from Liddabits Design Shop worked on.
And one of the baskets found it’s home on a gallery wall above the TV.
The urchins are from Target, the elephant is from HomeGoods, the faces were already in the apartment and the Ghana print was another project I did for DwD. So simple. Gold vinyl cut out using the Silhouette Cameo in an Ikea frame.
Danielle, thank you so much for your contribution to this project! 🙂
I sent my goods over to Cassie at Primitive and Proper, click on over there and find out what she did with the stuff I sent her! Can’t wait to see it, Cassie!
To check out the rest of the swap, check out any of the pages below. There is even a link up on a couple of the blogs to add your own thrifty scores and flea market makeovers. If you have a project that you want to share but don’t have a blog, you can upload a pin to Pinterest and add that link to the link up form or use a link to an Instagram pic. Hong, I’m looking at you and those cane chairs!
