The other day I posted some deets on the Thrifting with Tyler Tour Bus benefiting Dwell with Dignity and said I was going to share some of my finds from the day. I mainly wanted to share some amazing minty green lunch trays I found and some ideas on how to repurpose them. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have already seen this pic:
I picked up four lunch trays, two scarves, a straw tote, a cosco footstool and some border fabric. I am really trying to get better at buying things for the shop, rather than for myself, but… that’s real hard. I ended up keeping the tote, the footstool and the fabric. The pink scarf would make a perfect 20×20 throw pillow yo add some pop to your bedding and the green one is just plain awesome on it’s own. If you’re like me and don’t really feel like the kind of girl who can pull off a scarf as its intended to be worn, they are also great to tie around your purse handles. It just adds a pop of color and some added interest when you need it.
The footstool found its new home in my closet so I can reach the stuff in the top of the closet.
And this border fabric is going to make a great full length fall dress. The selvage says 1988. One dollar a yard!! Oh, p.s., I’ve declared this the summer of sewing and have several dresses to share.. ya know, sometime soon.
I’m thinkin’ it’ll be something like this:
Ignore the description, this pin does not lead to a tutorial, but I’m aiming on figuring it out anyway.
Back to those delish lunch trays; I had several ideas on things I could do to repurpose them and find new ways to use them rather than eat off of them. Although that did cross my mind; these would actually be the perfect portion control tool…. as long as there’s a brownie in at least one of those squares.
They can be used for office supplies, bead work, organizing your makeup, keeping your crafting and sewing schtuff together or as a little tray for your jewelry.
I bought four of them and actually used them for make up, sewing and office supplies for a few days until that voice in my head told me that I needed to drop them off at the shop. I took them up there on Saturday and they sold within hours. So, yeah, I’m guessing I need to find more?! These would also be really cute with some gold hand lettering on them that said something like “baubles” or something else super adorable.
I was hoping to end the post with a “hey, these are in the shop, go get them” kinda thing, but they sold before I was able to post this. I’m planning on restocking more next week, but until then, there are tons here on Etsy. Aaaaaand after looking at those prices, now I know why they sold so quickly. Well, at least I got to make a gif…?
Wishing you a fabulous week full of thrifty finds!
I saw some of those trays in a brown at our town yardsale… I passed by them because of my strong dislike for brown- come to forget that there’s this thing called… spray paint?! Mint would be the perfect color!
I found some more and thought about hittin’ them with some spray… Maybe with some primer first?
Great ideas…love ya
Love you, Darlee!
