This is one of my most favorite rescues. I bought these chairs for next to nothing. I couldn’t resist the shape (that’s always the story). Upholstery and paint can be easily changed – if you’re at the flea market or dumpster diving, keep that in mind and look at the shape of the piece. These are shaped like awesome, so, done deal.
I had already fallen in love with some laminated cotton fabric from designer Tula Pink and this was the perfect project for it so I ordered it. This fabric – Parisville Fans in Sprout – has been archived but all of her designs are so incredibly sweet that it doesn’t really even matter. She’s the bomb. Check out her latest designs here. Her Salt Water line has me in fits. Anyway, I took my Parisville Fans to Home Depot with the intention of having them color match a color in the fabric but came across Krylon’s Bright Idea spray paint and it matched the yellow perfectly. I knew these were going to end up a little crazy but hoped that I could find that person that they were meant to be with…. Prepped, painted, reupholstered and here they are:
I sold these at a trade days event. The girl who bought them had just gotten her first apartment and was crazy-excited about them. When someone falls head over heels in love with something that you’ve created… well, it just makes my insides feel warm and fuzzy.
This isn’t my only Tula Pink chair makeover – check out another one here.
